Obituary for Allen "AC" Collin Starke

Allen “AC” Collin Starke was born October 14, 1936, in Hawthorne, Florida. He was the second son of James Starke and Louris Mae Woodard-Starke who preceded him in death. His only brother Clarence James Starke also preceded him in death.
Allen attended elementary and senior high school in the Alachua County Public School System. In 1954, he graduated from Shell High School in Hawthorne, Florida. Once he graduated, Allen enlisted in the United States Army Forces. After honorable discharge, Allen furthered his education by attending Florida Memorial College in Saint Augustine, Florida, where he met and married, his wife, Arther Mae Pertee. Both graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Still driven to continue his education, Allen attended the University of Miami, Florida international University, and the University of Northern Colorado studying School Curriculum and Instruction. He later received his Masters of Education Degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
His work experiences began as a flower shop delivery person in Orlando, Florida. His professional careers in education were comprised in teaching at Jones High School in Orlando, FL; Phyllis Wheatley Elementary in Apopka, FL; North Beach Elementary and Phyllis Wheatley Elementary in Miami, FL. In addition, he served as a school guidance counselor at an all boys’ school in Quincy, FL; Highland Oaks Junior High and North Miami Junior High in Miami, FL. Allen climbed the ladder of success as an Assistant Principal at Skyway Elementary and Palm Lake Elementary in Miami, FL. He completed his career as a school principal at North Hialeah Elementary in Hialeah, FL, where he retired in 1998.
Allen’s Professional, Community and other Accomplishments include: Florida Atlantic University Department of Educational Leadership, Served as Vice President of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Life Member, Florida International Academy, Hawthorne Florida Homecoming Committee, YMCA Volunteer, Police Community Interaction Program, the Jewish National Fund, Animal Companion Science Program, Hispanic Heritage Festival, PTA Association, Florida Association of School Administration, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Association of Elementary School Principals, DCPS Certified Interviewer, Region I Retirement Committee, Rainbow Park Elementary Expressive Arts Magnet Center, and Informed Families of Dade County.
His death leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him. Left behind to cherish his memory: his loving, caring and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Arther Mae Pertee-Starke; one sweet and loving daughter, Tiffany Selena Starke of Washington, DC; two sons, Allen Collis Starke (LaDoris) Pembroke Pines, Florida, and Allen Calvin Starke (Donna), Tallahassee, Florida. There are a host of Grandchildren, Justine Starke-Jarell, (Marlon), Allen Collin Starke, II, Robert Darryl Starke, II, (deceased), Ciera Watson, Starr Starke, Dantrill Starke, Jeremy Starke, Karis Starke, Robert Starke, Jr., Kenneth Bolden, Arkil Anton Starke, Yolanda Evette Starke, Erica Alana Starke, Allen Coolidge Starke and nineteen great-grand children; one sister-in-law, Loretta Pertee-Dean of Riviera Beach, Florida, and a host of affectionate nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
