Archie M. Douglas, Sr, 79, transitioned from this earthly life June 14, 2024 at the Malcolm Randall VA Hospital. Born in Hawthorne, he attended Shell Elementary School, Hawthorne, FL and was a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School, Gainesville, FL. He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam Era and was honorably discharged. He retired from the VA Medical Center as a Nursing Care Tech - MICU Dept. after 32 years of service. He was a member of New Generation Church of Hawthorne and served as President of the Senior Choir for many years. Archie is preceded in death by his parents, George W, Douglas, Sr. and Rozzie Lee Manning Douglas; brothers, George W. Douglas, Jr. and Nathaniel E. Douglas.
Archie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ramona M. Torres-Douglas, Hawthorne, FL; children, Bernard Baker, Chicago, IL, LaTangela Hopkins, Johnson, FL, Shannon Nichole Douglas, Gainesville, FL, Archie M. Douglas, Jr. and Francisco E. Ramos (Angel), all of Hawthorne, FL; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Elsie Johnson of Texas, Alvoid P. Douglas (Earline W.), Carol Smith, all of Hawthorne, FL, Elizabeth Carmac, Greensboro, NC, Patricia Counts (Rev. Arthur Sr.), Geneva Thornton (Vernon), Elder Roosevelt A. Douglas, Sr. (Patricia), all of Hawthorne, FL, Teasie J. Williams (Hirk), Atlanta, GA, Easie J. Styles, Hawthorne, FL and Izola Wilson (Aaron), Gainesville, FL; sisters-in-law, Altamease W. A Joyful Celebration will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2024 at New Generation Church of Hawthorne, 22500 SE 71st Ave., Hawthorne, FL., Pastor, Rev. Eugene E. Herring, Sr., Officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorne Cemetery. Viewing on Friday at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home of Hawthorne 4 PM - 7 PM and Saturday at the church 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM.
