Obituary for Barbara Ann Ray-Santiago


Barbara Ray-Santiago left us on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 the day before her 60th birthday on December 6 in Orlando.

Barbara was born on December 6, 1963 the only child of the late Betty Deloris Watson and the late Orion Colin Nelson in Johnson Crossroads. She grew up as a sister/niece to her maternal aunts and uncles in Johnson Crossroads.

Barbara’s elementary-secondary educational experience began at Interlachen Elementary School and finished at Interlachen High School. Upon graduating from high school, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Indian River State College in Fort Pierce.

Her employment history includes the following businesses: Voca, Inc., Publix, Inc., Teleperformance USA, Seacoast National Bank and Ayesha Solomon Property Appraiser where she served as a frontline representative during her employment.

Barbara was truly a family-oriented person and loved spending time with family and friends. She will always be known for her loving personality, pleasant demeanor, and stylish appearance.

She is survived by:

• Son: David Ray Santiago (Taylor Rose Eitman), Palm Bay

• Three grandchildren: Luna Ray Santiago, Orion Ray Santiago, Cyrus Ray Santiago

• Grand Aunt: Bessie Chisholm, Johnson Crossroads

• Grand Uncles: Arron Raye, Johnson Crossroads; Edward Raye (Ardie), Hawthorne; Felton Davis, Interlachen

• Maternal Aunts and Uncles: Otis Walker (Gloria), Johnson Crossroads; Darlene Scott, Johnson Crossroads; Alphonso Walker, Johnson Crossroads; James Walker (Christine), Johnson Crossroads; Mildred Walker, Dunnellon; Frederick Walker (Ethel Jackson),Gainesville; Lester Walker, Atlanta, GA; Donal Walker, Johnson Crossroads; Linda Wrotten (Bennie), Citris Springs

• Paternal Aunts and Uncles: Bennie Nelson Edwards, Bobby Nelson, Ronald Nelson, Jaqueline Nelson Wilson, all from Fort Lauderdale.

• Godchildren: Theresa Walker, Barbara Walker, Dwight Williams, Jr., Arielle Nelson

• Special Friends: Harriet Gregory, Fort Lauderdale and Charmella Richardson, Gainesville

• Special Niece: Latoya
