A GLIMPSE INTO HER LIFE
Beria Norris was on born December 10, 1928 to the late Louis and Wilma Cromarty in Monteocha, FL.
She attended Jerusalem Elementary School from first to eighth grade. After 8th grade, Beria was given the opportunity to attend Kissimmee High School, which was about two hours away from home. Her teacher assisted her by providing room and board so she could pursue her education.
On April 12, 1947, she married Samuel Norris. Sr. and was a stay-at-home mom to their four children: Samuel Jr., Alphonso, Irma, and Carl. Their last child, Babygirl Norris, was stillborn. Beria also inherited a bonus son, Franklin Moore, whom she considered her own. Beria and Samuel remained committed to each other for more than 70 years.
Beria accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago. She was a lifelong member of Greater Bell United Methodist Church (now Greater Bell Community Church), where she served as secretary, communion steward, and historian. She demonstrated her love for Christ by the way she lived and loved others.
She was a founding member of the Unique Women’s Club for 47 years. The club has been serving the community in a variety of ways since 1976. As a devoted member, she served as the President, Vice President, and Secretery. She was extremely proud of the club’s many endeavors and accomplishments.
Although Beria had a calm and quiet demeanor, she leaves a legacy of love, great faith, generosity and courage for her family and others.
Beria is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Norris, Sr.; sons, Franklin Moore and Alphonso Norris; siblings- McKinley Cromarty, James Edward Cromarty, Robert Franklin, Lottie Ross, and Dora Valentine.
Survivors include sons- Samuel (Maudell) Norris Jr. and Carl (friend Carolyn) Norris; daughter- Irma (Louis) Galloway; and daughters-in-law- Elizabeth Moore and Jeanette Norris; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters- Mable Mingo and Helen C. Moten; sister-in-law- Elzada Cromarty; God-children- James Banks, Sarah Dickerson, Claude Valentine, and Claudia Camps; and a host of relatives and friends.
