Upon finishing school, she gave birth to her eldest son.
On October 29, 1974, Mrs. Campbell married the love of her life, Mr. Walter E. Campbell Jr. They moved, from Miami-Dade County to Putnam County. They reared two lovely daughters. They also adopted their eldest grandson. They spent 29 wonderful years together, before her Boa’s untimely demise.
Mrs. Campbell worked in various professions. Her jobs included: Seasonal farmworker, Machine Operator at Crom Construction Corporation, Environmental Services worker, Co-owner and operator of Campbell’s Lawncare Services, Private Duty Caretaker, CNA in a healthcare facility, and a private duty housekeeper and Nanny.
“Bet”, as she was affectionately called, had a big heart and she valued family. The unconditional Agape love that she had for her family encouraged her to raise and nurture two of her nephews. She was only able to adopt one of them, but she poured love into both of.
Mrs. Campbell joined Zion Hill SDA Church, under her Profession of Faith. She was a faithful attending member, until her health would not allow her to attend.
She was preceded in death by: Her Husband and both of her parents; five brothers: Denver, John, Edward, Kenneth, and Anthony Toney; two sisters: Barbara Debose and Debra Toney; Grandson: Vaughn Davis; Sister-in-law: Joan Cooper; Brother- in- laws: Rickey Debose, Neris Campbell, And Byron Campbell; Niece: Shanika Toney; Nephew Roderick Toney.; Cousin Shenita Allen and Mother-in-law: Elizabeth Campbell.
She leaves to mourn her passing: One natural son: Jermaine L. Toney; Two daughters: Felecia J. McClendon (Daniel), and Mary E. Smith Hawthorne, FL; Two adopted sons: Terrence Brown-Campbell and Daymond Toney- Campbell of Hawthorne, FL and a great nephew that she raised as her own: Isaiah M. Toney of Hawthorne, FL; Two Stepdaughters: Wilma Sheppard of Miami, FL and Bridgeta Campbell of Gainesville, FL. Four grandsons: Nathan and Kadeem of Miami, FL, Michael and Jaden, of Hawthorne, FL; Five Granddaughters: Alecia (Phillip) of Jacksonville, FL; Deborah (Marvin) of Middleburg, FL, Destiny, Danecia, and Jasmine, all of Hawthorne, FL; Thirteen Great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Mia, Priceton, Aoshi, Nathan, Nala, Kay’ lani, Ka’von, Ke’ von, Ke’yonni, Treylin, Alani, and Zymir.
Two sisters: Carol Gray and Ola Toney, of Miami, FL; One brother: Raymond L. Toney of Miami, FL.
Four Sister- in - laws: Lucklean Toney, of Miami, FL; Carol Toney, of Richmond VA; Carolyn Petty of Leeds, AL and Martha Whiteside, of Detroit MI. Eight Aunts: Pearlie Toney of Sarasota, FL; Martha Toney of Dothan, AL; Geneva Threadcraft (Tommie) from Albany, Ga. Lucille Pratt from Palmetto, FL, Mary K. Toney of Albany, GA; Lorraine Toney of Miami, FL; Thelma House of Ft. Myers and Debra Toney; Two Uncles: Hubert Toney (Betty) of Fort Myers, FL and Willie James Toney (Goldie) of New Haven CT; God son : Eddrick Williams; One Bonus Daughter: Laquanda Fountain; One Bonus Granddaughter: Ti’ana Taplis; Best friend: Maxine White. A host of cousins, nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
