Sunrise: April 11, 1939 Sunset: April 5, 2023
Bobby Raymond Rutledge was born one of twelve children on April 11, 1939 in Apopka, Florida to the late Mattie (Jasper) and Wille (Scoopy) Rutledge. Preceding him in death was one son, Raymond Rutledge, five brothers: Andrew (AJ) Rutledge, Roosevelt (Jango) Rutledge, Clyde (Tippy) Rutledge, Odell (Boobie) Rutledge, Jerry Rutledge; and five sisters: Dorothy Rutledge, Betty Rutledge Williams, Frances Davis, Mildred Rutledge Lawson and Laura Rutledge.
Bobby’s family later moved to Hawthorne and there he attended a local school. Bobby was a hard-working man who took pride in all his jobs. On most of his jobs, he became foreman and loved giving orders. He also enjoyed going fishing, especially with her brother, Will. Bobby really enjoyed playing dominos for hours with his family and friends.
Bobby spent most of his life in Hawthorne, Gainesville, and Pompano Beach. He enjoyed walking and riding the city bus all over Gainesville and Pompano Beach and knew most of the bus schedules.
Bobby spent the last months of his life in Hawthorne with his brother, Willie Rutledge, Jr (Will) and Jackie, because of illness. Bobby still walked every day until about the last 3 months of his life.
Bobby leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: three sons: Bobby Rutledge (Dorothy) and Tony Rutledge (Mary), three daughters: Betty Gillins, Rosie Seals (John), Gloria Poole (Edmond); one brother: Willie Rutledge, Jr (Jackie), one sister-n-law: Gussie Mae Rutledge, 23 grands, 53 great-grands, 5 great-great grands and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
