Callie Mae Lawson was born April 23, 1935 in Louisville, AL. She was 85 when she transitioned to be with our Lord and Savior on November 3, 2020 in Gainesville, FL. Mrs. Lawson gave her life to Christ at a young age and she and her sisters started singing with The White Hurst Gospel Singers of Alabama. She later moved to Gainesville, FL and started singing with the Rev. Wesley Lee of Gainesville along with her daughters. She was a member of Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church of Gainesville, a member of the Eastern Star Lodge of Gainesville and retired Supervisor II Custodial Worker at the University of Florida with 30 plus years. Sister Callie is preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Lawson, loving mother and father, Carrie B. Eutsey and Bradley Mack McCoy, sons, Willie James, Leroy Neal and John McCoy, daughter, Pastor Elouise McCoy, 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
She's survived by her children, JC McCoy, Johnny James Neal(Jackie), all of Cameron, AL, Elder Jennie Kennedy (William), JoeAnn Smith, Rena McCoy, Ellen McCoy and Norman Neal, all of Gainesville, FL; step-children, Janice Lawson, Johnathan (Marie) Lawson, Leonard Lawson, all of Macon, GA; a sister, Rosa Lee McCoy McNeal, Gainesville, FL; 38 grands, 76 great grands, 13 great-great-grands; nieces and nephews, Gladys Russaw, Mariah Russaw, Annie McCoy, George Russaw (Mary) Willie Russaw, all of Louisville, AL; other relatives and friends.
