Obituary for Clayton O’Connell Guthrie Sr.
Today we come together to celebrate the life and homegoing of our Father, a man of God. His love and memory will forever live on in our hearts.
Clayton O’Connell Guthrie was born in Edgar, FL. On May 2, 1957, to the late Ulysses Tyrone Guthrie and Laura Belle Guthrie. He attended Putnam County Schools and graduated at Interlachen in 1975. He was baptized and joined Abilene Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He began his Truck Driving career in 1976 and went on until 2012 when he fell ill. He had a special love for going fishing and working on his old 1979 Ford Truck.
Clayton met and married the love of his life Lueann Guthrie. To this union was born three beautiful children. Son-Clayton Guthrie Jr. (Davenna) Fernandina Beach, FL. Daughters- Sheree Roberts (Tremayne Sr.) Palatka, FL. and Desirea Guthrie St. Augustine, FL. 9 Grandchildren, Qaadaria Guthrie, Imiri Johnson, Calina Guthrie, Ember Guthrie, Tremayne Roberts Jr., Aavin Smith, Aveah Stevens, Aivi Stevens, and Oshun Vinson; 3 sisters, Glorious Jean Mix, Gainesville, FL, Katherleen Duggan, Melrose, FL and Direne Glen, Florahome, FL; brother, Urban Guthrie (Rosalind), Florahome, FL, Jarvis Guthrie (deceased) and his wife, Helen; mother-in-law, Leona Guthrie, Putnam Hall, FL; Alongside a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Dear Father:
Everybody still misses you, but we know you are in a better place. We cherish your love, respect, and responsibility you have taught us. We will always remember you in our hearts. Although we are apart, we will always be together every minute, second and hour of the day. You always told funny stories about your childhood. Now no one can tell us those stories anymore like you did. We get a sense of peace now knowing you are reunited with the love of your life in heaven where we know you are smiling and happy as can be.
