Obituary for Clifford Eugene McCoy Sr.

Clifford Eugene McCoy Sr., the son of Louise Clara Williams, the oldest of 5 siblings was born on January 21, 1953. He was called home on March 18, 2023 after fighting the good fight of faith. Clifford was 70 years old when God called him home.

He grew up in Hawthorne Florida and received is education in the Alachua County Public Schools. Clifford loved to play baseball, he enjoyed spending weekends traveling and spending time at the Go Go Club with his team, The Hawthorne Angels. Spending time with family and friends was a natural and daily thing. He was full of fun, love and energy. He was an awesome people person that love to crack jokes and laugh, he could get along with anyone. Clifford was the jack of all trades, but quickly decided to become a Heavy Equipment operator and was not afraid to change jobs in order to make ends meet. He was not a stranger to hard work and made sure that it was instilled into his children.

Clifford met the love of his life Rosemary Cabarris and they got married on February 4, 1974. They had 8 children together, their relationship was a loving and lasting one. For 49 years they labored together to nurture and care for their children. Later in life Clifford was hurt on the job and was declared disabled but didn't stop working. His new job was being there for his children, grands and great grands. He worked tirelessly being the best father he could by showing up to sporting events, practices, school/community functions and numerous graduations. Clifford loved God and his family and there was nothing he would not do for them. Fearless, devoted, firm and persistent are a few words that describe his care and concern for their growth and success. He would often quote the 23 Psalm stating "ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil". Clifford knew that God was with him every step of the way and confessing that "Jesus is Lord".

Clifford was preceded in death by his mother Louise Clara Williams, Grandparents Elijah and Gracie Williams and Aunt Lizzy Williams. He has one surviving Aunt Elaine & husband (Terrrel) Williams.
