Obituary for Curtis Lee Worthen Sr.
OBITUARY
Curtis L. Worthen was born 1932 in Kite, Georgia to Thomas and Hattie Worthen. He attended school in Johnson County. At an early age, he joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Curtis moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1948. He was hired as a roofer and later hired by another company as a plumber. He learned many skills. He loved construction work which lead him to build additions to a home belonging to him and his wife Ruth. In the early 1970’s, he decided to start his own roofing contractor business – Worthen & Sons Roofing. He worked there until he retired. In 1952, he married Ruth Davis. To this union, 4 children were born – Curtis Jr, Patricia Ann, Anita Dianne and Mary Hellen. Two stepsons were part of their union – Robert and Steve.
Preceding him in his demise were two daughters – Patricia Ann and Anita Dianne, as well as two sons – Robert Lee and Curtis Jr.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Ruth Davis Worthen; daughter, Mary Hellen (Bruce) of Durham, NC; son, Steve (Vanessa) of Hurst, TX; daughter-in-law, Gloria Reese-Worthen; granddaughters, Phoebe, Latasha, Amina, and Tashina; grandsons, Kendrick, Stefan and Tavares; great granddaughters, Eronique, Patricia Ruth Asia, Miracle, Mackenzie and Abby; great grandsons, David, Breon, Treyvon, Michael and Daiquan; great-great grandsons, Breon Jr. and Stephon; great-great granddaughter, Docia Carmella; sisters, Jeannette Boyd and Linda Warthen; sisters-in-law, Jackie Worthen, Carrie O’Neal of Putnam Hall, FL, Alene Bryant (Lawrence) of Tacoma, WA, Rose Lee Davis (Thomas) of Hemet, CA, Corrine Brown of Lake Butler, FL, Alzeta Lucas (Charles) of Groveland, FL and Betty Gilmore of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law, Freddie Adams of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Aaron Davis (Susie), Charles Davis, all of Starke, FL, Carl Davis (Martha) of Hawthorne, FL and Tommy Davis of Lake Butler, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
