Cyrus Reliford Davis, Jr., affectionately known as Reggie, was born on December 4, 1938, in Gainesville, Florida, to the late Cyrus R. Davis and Rosa Gray. He accepted Christ at an early age.
A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1956, Reggie went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army as a radio operator and paratrooper. Following his military service, he lived in Connecticut, where he worked in various roles including salesperson, head of the footwear department, and master machinist. In 1981, Reggie returned to his hometown of Gainesville, where he later retired from the University of Florida Bookstore.
Cyrus was preceded in death by his sister: Margaret Trowell; and brothers: Tommy Davis, Philip Davis, and William Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Davis; his sisters: Mary D. Sams (James), Saundra Davis, Denise Davis Allen (Kenneth), Elaine Davis Walker; brother-in-law, Alphonso Barber; children: Chenita Miles, Adrienne Barber-Byrd, and Stephen Barber; grandchildren: Brittany Knighton (David), Thashea Miles, Gabriel Barber, Jakayla Barber, Timothy I Miles (Imani), and Jakiya Barber; great-grandchildren: Tiannah Knighton, Xavier Knighton, Khloe Manning, Audrey Miles, and Princeton Cyrus Doualehi; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
