OBITUARY
Dewey Arnett Roberts, II was born July 7, 1945 in New York to the Late Dewey A. Roberts, Sr. and Flossie Willis Roberts. Dewey graduated from Lincoln High School, Gainesville, FL, Class of 1962. He continued his education to obtain an Associate Degree from Hampton Community College, Ocala, FL. He then attended Miami-Dade Community College, Miami, FL and met and married Sherlyn Richardson of Ft. Myers, FL. From that union there are two children. 1968 he joined Maas Brothers Department Store (Federated) as an Operations Manager, then transferred to Tampa, FL where he lived for many years until he returned to Gainesville. He subsequently earned an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science from St. Petersburg College, St. Pete, FL in 1996. He served his hometown of Gainesville as a funeral home attendant at Dorsey’s Funeral Home before becoming a Licensed Funeral Director with the State of Florida. He served many funeral homes and families in the Gainesville and surrounding communities with his expertise in the funeral industry. He also spent time as an educator with Alachua County Public Schools.
He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Dewey III and Terrilyn; granddaughter, Demi Renee; great granddaughters, Aliieyah and Mylah; daughter-in-law, Jasmine H. Roberts; mother of his children, Sherlyn Richardson; ex-wife, Olivia Bryant; other relatives and friends.
