Today, we pause to remember a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, A Queen
Dorothy Mae Brown Jackson.
Dorothy Mae Brown Jackson was the third of twelve children born to the late Gus and Gladys Gordon. Nurtured in a Christian home, she accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Gordon Chapel Community Church. Dorothy transitioned from her earthly life to her heavenly home on November 12, 2020.
As a young woman, Dorothy worked different jobs in the surrounding area of Hawthorne prior to
relocating to Seattle, Washington, where she started a catering company. After more than 25 years of managing the catering business she owned and operated, Dorothy returned to Gordon Chapel, Florida for retirement. She was extremely happy, having reunited with her siblings.
As a devout Christian, Dorothy served on the usher board in Seattle and she was a member of the choir at Gordon Chapel Community Church. She was involved in community service programs and touched the lives of many.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Gladys Gordon, daughter, Elouise Cooper, and siblings, Gussie Flowers, Elree Cuthbert, and Leon Gordon.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Eugene Jackson; Her Children: Iradine Cooper, Barbara (Wallace) White, Sylvia (Duncan) Brown; Stepchildren: Matira Jackson, Yadira (Jerry) Watkins, Arnulfo (Dell) Jackson; Four Granddaughters, One Grandson, Seven Great Granddaughters, Four Great Grandsons and Two Great Great Grandchildren; Her Siblings: Almetta Thompkins, Roosevelt Gordon, Charlene (Edward) McDonald, Jennie (William) Hayes, Earl (Evelyn) Gordon, Nora (Roger) Donley, Rosa (John) Harris, Joseph (Melanie) Scott; Uncle Joseph William, Sr., Aunt Mary Strickland; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; grieving friends and family at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Ontario, California, Pastor Larry A. Thomas and special friend, Minister Lorine Hackett.
