A Time to Be Born
Elree Gordon Cuthbert was born on July 21, 1938, in Gordon Chapel, FL to the late Gus Gordon and Gladys Gordon, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her was her husband William Cuthbert, Sr., one son William Cuthbert, Jr., and one sister, Gussie Mae Gordon. She was followed in death by one brother Leon Gordon.
A Time to Build
Elree attended Oakgrove School. She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, a loving sister, beautiful aunt, and an eternal Child of God. She was a long-time member of Gordon Chapel Church and coordinated both the Sick Committee and the Kitchen Committee for many years. She was a dedicated Christian who sang in the Choir and was the Lead Sunday School Teacher of the Primary/Beginners class. Her love and affection were felt throughout the community and she touched the lives of many near and far.
A Time to Love
Elree was united in holy matrimony to William Cuthbert in September of 1961 and from this union, the pair raised a loving family comprised of four boys and one girl.
A Time to Sow
Elree was a homemaker during her early years of marriage and a caregiver of both the young and elderly. She helped raised numerous children throughout the community and many of them think of her as mom today. She also served as a housekeeper and helped to raise and influence the lives of the children for the homes she cleaned and kept.
A Time to Reap
Due to Elree’s untiring service to the community and others, she was continually recognized and visited by those who lives she impacted. She was appreciated and adorned with daily visits, phone calls, car rides, surprise birthday parties and trips to the beach from those who loved and cherished her.
A Time to Die
Elree transitioned from her earthly life on Friday, October 30, 2020 after a brief illness.
I know where I’m going, because I know where I’ve been.
The storm is over, I’m with God and that’s how I’ll win.
My best days are right in front of me,
So carry on, because I’m finally free.
Love Always, Elree.
