was born May 12, 1949, to the late Willie Williams and Dorothy Mae Jenkins in Hawthorne FL. Elsie was fortunate enough to be born into the lineage of the distinguished Mr. Wesley E. Jenkins Sr., one of the forefathers of the African American Community in Hawthorne, FL. Elsie grew up in Hawthorne where she attended Chester Shell Elementary, graduated from Lincoln High in 1967, where she was proud to be one of the Big Red Terriers majorettes. After graduation she attended Santa Fe Community College. Elsie was employed by Shands Teaching Hospital, Aramark Company and she was an accomplished seamstress.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Willie Williams, Dorothy Mae Jenkins and grandson Orell M. Gordon.She leaves to cherish her memories, sisters Bonita McIntosh(Clinton) and Deborah Wilson-Bouie(Robert), both of Gainesville, FL, her daughters Tywanna Rutledge-Brown(Jesse) Lake City, FL and Bridgett Rutledge Gainesville, FL. A special devoted friend, Willie Rutledge Jr. Hawthorne, FL, her grandkids, Angelica Williams Atlanta, GA, Courtnei Threatts(Travis) and Justina Wilkerson both of Tampa FL, Cory Rutledge, Arshaud Jenkins, Jasmine Wright, Sinclair Rivers IV, Tyrell Gordon, Ramzay Duggan and Raiginald Copeland all of Gainesville, FL, a niece, Jennifer Johnson, her nephews, Jarvarous Wilson of Atlanta, GA Willie Johnson Jr and Daryl Rutledge Jr both of Gainesville, FL, and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
