Obituary for Fletcher Dorenzo Young
REFLECTIONS OF A WONDERFUL LIFE
Fletcher D. Young was born to the late Walter and Lillian Young on July 8, 1932. He was formally educated at Lincoln High School, Gainesville, FL where he received his diploma in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from the Korean War in 1953. He was a member of The American Legion Post 16 in which he attended monthly. He married the Love of his life, Alfreda Cobb on October 23, 1954 and to this union four children were born. At an early age he received his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He later received the calling from Christ and became a Minister, Pastor, and a Bishop in Detroit, MI at Greater First Born Church Of The Living God. He was employed for thirty-seven years as an assembly technician in Detroit, MI where he retired from the Chrysler Corporation, shortly thereafter he relocated to Gainesville, FL . He joined Pilgrim Rest Church Of God In Unity and later was appointed Pastor in 2005. He was faithful in all his duties at Pilgrim Rest Church Of God In Unity until the Lord called him home.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019 he fell asleep in the Lord and He gently carried him home. He was wonderful, kind, humble and he loved his family and loved the Lord. He was a devoted loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Pastor and friend. He enjoyed the great outdoors, traveling, gospel concerts, and spending time with his family.
He leaves precious memories to his wife: Alfreda Young; brother, William King; daughters,, Melvina Harrison, Kay Patterson, Addrenia Young-Gordon (devoted son-in-law, Curtis), sons, Fletcher D. Young, Jr., Michael Rich (Lydia); devoted grandchildren, Tamelia Young-Lawson (Malcolm), Marilyn Treadwell, Curtis Gordon, Ronald Patterson, Jr., Leigh Joy McCain, Michelle Rich, Fernandez Bryant, Olayemi Awofadeju, Oluwao-toyin Awofadeju, Shekina Awofadeju, Sarah Williams and Sidmon Griffin; God children, Floretha Bryant, Athena brown, Vivian Jackson, Jesse Taylor, Carl Hill (Lashawn), Lorenzo Murray; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family and sorrowing friends.
