Frank Clarance Johnson, Jr. age 77,
transitioned from this earthly life June 17, 2023. A 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School, he was a member of the football
and basketball teams. He was best known for his basketball abilities. The sports writers of the Gainesville Sun Newspaper described him as one of the best high school basketball players in the city of Gainesville during his era. He was also known for being a “legalist”. He represented himself before the Supreme Court in a dispute with Government concerning disability
benefits. He also wrote a weekly column in the Mahogany Revue Newspaper. Frank served as a Deacon at several churches in the community during his life. He’s survived by his wife, Willie Ruth Johnson, Gainesville, FL; a daughter, Victoria Johnson, Gainesville, FL; grandson, Timothy Johnson, Gainesville, FL; siblings, Bertha Corbett of Gainesville, FL, Frederick D. Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Claretha Williams of Plant City, FL; brother-in-law, Rudolph Mann of Hawthorne, FL; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his Parents. Frank C. Johnson, Sr. and Clara Thomas Johnson; siblings, Marguerite Hughes, Rudolph Porter, Queen Ester Johnson, Franke Mae Jones, and Clara Nell Johnson.
