Geraldine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the original Magnolia Baptist Church. At Magnolia she served as church clerk, treasurer, deaconess, and lead singer in the choir. After the merger of the three community churches, she became a member of the new Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to serve as one of the lead singers for the Trinity Senior Choir prior to her illness.

She was married to Willie “Tuie” Monroe for 65 years. Through her 90 years of life, she was able to nurture and raise seven children and one bonus son, along with 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also helped to raise several of her nieces and nephews. Geraldine retired in June 1993 as a school bus driver of special needs students in the Putnam County School District.
