Obituary for Gloria Jones “Jackie” Andrews
Celebration of Life

Gloria “Jackie” Jones Andrews was born on December 20, 1951, in Alachua, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Arnold Jones Sr. and Johnnie Mae Jones.
She attended A.L. Mebane High School in Alachua, FL. Graduating Class of 1970, she was a majorette and a cheerleader. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at the St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Alachua, FL. She later moved to Tampa Florida for many years and returned to Alachua Florida her hometown.
She worked for the State of Florida as a Social Worker for many years until she retired. “Jackie” was united in holy matrimony to Don Houston Andrews, to this union one child was born. She was a loving and devoted wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was the heartbeat of her family, and everyone loved to be in her presence. She was unwittingly a comedienne, but very sterned on many things. She was known to be sharp minded, an independent woman, that enjoyed working in her yard tending to her flowers. She was deeply involved with her family and community organizations such as The Cha Cha’s, ACC (Alachua Community Coalition) and member of the Citizen Advisory Task Force for the City of Alachua.
The Lord in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely on Sunday, March 9, 2025, to reach down into his garden and call our beloved to her eternal resting place. Her work here is done, and she answered the master’s call.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arnold Jones Sr. and Johnnie Mae Jones, her son: Craiguary Jones, sister: Lula Jones, brothers: Charles Jones, Clarence Jones, and Donald Jones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: A loving and devoted husband, Don Houston Andrews, One Son: Kodi Andrews (Courtney), Five Grandchildren: Skylar, Kodi Jr., all of Titusville, FL, Craiguary Jr., DaShaon, and Quashaila, of Alachua, FL; Three Great Grandchildren: Mykensie, Mysiah, Zymir of Alachua, FL; One Brother:Arnold Jones Jr. (Ophelia), of Tampa, FL; One Sister: Marva Faulkner, of Tampa, FL; Three Brother In-Laws: Dec. Romoth Andrews (Barbara), of Gainesville, FL; Rev. Dr. Emory Andrews, of Upper Marlboro, MD; Willie Lamar Andrews (Doris), of Lakeland, FL;Two Sister In-laws: Angela Smith and Quinsetta Andrews, both of Tallahassee, FL; and, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends
