Gussie Mae Swain Hamilton
Gussie Mae was born on October 25, 1926 to the late Ralph and Nellie Mae Monroe Swain. She was married to the late Raymond Hamilton. After 95 precious years, on
April 13, 2022 at her granddaughter’ home, Gussie peacefully accepted the perfect will of God.
She was educated through the Putnam County and Alachua School Systems. Among her peers, she was known as a gifted softball player. Prior to her sickness, she was also known as an avid fisherman and florist. Gussie loved her boys and grandchildren. She loved people and will be missed by many.
Gussie accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in the Sunday School ministry and the Mission Ministry until her illness. In addition to Trinity, she also participated in many Second Bethlehem Baptist Association activities with her son.
She was employed for 22 years at the University of Florida Building Services prior to her retirement.
Gussie was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Nellie Mae Swain, one daughter, Constance Jacobs, and three brothers, James Swain, Burdell Strickland and Amos Strickland.
