Obituary of Homer Irvin McClendon
Homer Irvin “Patrick” McClendon passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at his home in Gainesville, FL. He was born on December 29, 1954 to his loving mother, Inez McClendon Johnson in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Patrick grew up in Johnson Crossroads under the watchful care of his grandmothers, Mattie McClendon and Neally White.
He attended Lincoln Park Academy in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Patrick worked for many years at Georgia Pacific. Later as a self-employed businessman, he touched the lives of many young people in his community.
Patrick’s favorite hobbies were fixing classic cars and gardening. He would often showcase his 1966 Chrysler 300 and 1967 AMC Rambler at many community events and car shows. Patrick was a loving, kind and gentle person. He loved his family and friends and had a giving and charitable spirit. He will be missed by many.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Inez McClendon Johnson; grandmother, Mattie McClendon, sister, Hazel Lee Sylvester and brother, Eddie James McClendon.
Patrick‘s memories will forever be cherished in the lives of his sister, Rosa Lee Washington, of Ft. Pierce, FL and two brothers, Henry Jones of Tampa. FL and Clifford Carroll of Ft. Pierce; three uncles, Reverend Frankie McClendon, Tye McClendon (Agnus), and Daniel McClendon (Felecia) all of Johnson Crossroads.
