James Benjamin Smith, Jr.
James Benjamin Smith, Jr. was born February 2, 1940 in Green Cove Springs, Florida to the late James and Louise (Kendrick) Smith. As a child he attended Putnam Hall Elementary and graduated from Palatka High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the Army where he served for 6 years, during the Vietnam War in the 1960’s. He also worked in construction for over 20 years, but in his leisure time enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sports.
He departed this life on January 13, 2022 peacefully.
He is proceeded in death by Wife - Mary Ann (Coleman) Smith, Parents - James and Louise (Kendrick) Smith, Sisters - Bessie Mae Middleton, Anne Pearl Eubanks Brothers - Henry Smith, Isaac Smith, Alfred Charles Smith and Ernest Clarence Smith.
He leaves heartfelt memories in the hearts and minds Three Sons: James Davis (Starke, Florida), Reginald Coleman (Elnora) Ocala, Florida, Ronald Smith (Mary) Putnam Hall, Sisters: Minnie Lumpkin (Putnam Hall, Florida) Doris Lewis (Tommy) Waldo, Florida, Barbara Mitchell (Speedville, Florida), Margaret Smith (Atlanta, Georgia), Martha Jones (Willie) Orange Park, Florida, Mary Williams (Palatka, Florida), eight grandchildren, twelve-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and close friends.
