Obituary for Janice Marguerite Morton
Janice M. Morton was born on November 16th, 1954 in Charlotte Amalie as a native of the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands to Rhoda M. Morton and the late James R. Morton. She loved both parents but was certainly a daddy’s girl.
Janice graduated from Charlotte Amalie High school, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1972. She served honorably in the United States Army and retired after 24 years. She was a lover of life and shared her gifts with the world as an international model in Thailand during her younger years. She repeatedly expressed her love for others by opening her home to those in need. Some of Janice’s favorite past times were spending quality time with her grandchildren, gardening, listening and singing music of various genres, cooking and sharing daily meals. She told great stories and loved making other people laugh. Her wisdom and unique expression of words will be forever missed. She departed this life on Friday, August 27th, 2021 at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father James R. Morton Sr. and two sisters Shirley Richard and Joan Morton; and her brother Alvin Morton.
Janice leaves to cherish her beautiful memories; a devoted mother Rhoda Morton; two loved daughters, Jachael Nichols and Jazmen Kelly; two loved sons Johnny Nichols Jr and Johnte Nichols; reared niece Natasha Morton and reared great-niece Melissa Morton; a special brother, James (Marie) Morton; loyal sisters, Marcia Jules, Bayla Isreal, Maria (Archie) Hill, seven treasured grandchildren, Johnte Jr, Janiyah, Yamari, Jamel, Jahtavious, Jahlen and Jahlonni; aunts, Alberta Sprauve, Elvina Garcia and Urlin Richardson; faithful friends, Renee and Irene; five special godchildren Kunitha Patterson, Milton Davis, Angela Strong, Maria Jones and Laquasha Carroll; Janice will be missed by other nephews, nieces, cousins, loved ones and special friends.
