Obituary for John Ivey Hawkins
John Ivey Hawkins was born on February 9, 1943 in Island Grove, FL to the late John W. Hawkins and Edith Mann Hawkins. He was educated at Shell High School, Hawthorne, FL and attended Galilee Baptist Church during his younger life. On April 9, 1966 he married Willie mae Taylor and moved to Citra, FL From this union three beautiful daughters were born. He returned to Hawthorne 13 years ago. In his younger years he loved to dance and sing. He was one of the lead vocalist in the Mombo Band where he traveled extensively to local venues in the area. He was a great story teller and love telling them to his girls, nieces and nephews. he also enjoyed cooking, fishing and working. He was a humble man and appreciated the simple things in life. No matter how difficult things appeared to others, he never complained. he acknowledged Christ as his Lord and Savior. Survivors include 3 daughters, Sharilyn Todd, Bellview, FL, Yuchevia Wade (Johnny), Ocala, FL, Phillis Austin (James), Bellview, FL; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchilldren; mother, Edith Hawkins; Siblings, Charles hawkins, Sr. (Aldonia) and Anterrel Hawkins Hadley, all of Hawthorne, FL
