Obituary
Johnta Dimitri’ James (affectionately known by many as Jayy), son of Stacey Mayes and Frederick James, Sr. was born March 20, 1993, in Gainesville, FL.
Our beloved Johnta’ was called home to eternal peace and rest on August 19, 2023, after a tragic motorcycle accident.
Johnta’ attended public school in Alachua County until relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2002 with his mother and siblings. Johnta’ continued his education and graduated from Stephenson High in Dekalb County GA. After graduating High School, Johnta’ returned to Florida to re-connect with family. Johnta was an avid football fan and played while in high school. Jonta’ started his career as a Semi truck driver in 2021. His passion for motorcycles led him to purchase his very own bike that he loved riding whenever he was not long-distance driving. Having an entrepreneur sprit, Janta’ started his own business under the name of Mr. Everything, LLC.
Johnta knew and loved the Lord, he was baptized at an early age where he attended church at New Hope United Methodist Church, under the Pastoral ship of Rev. Eugene Herring, Hawthorne, FL.
Johnta leaves the cherish his memories 2 beautiful daughters, Ava Marie Ny’Asia James 9, and Janiyah Marcella James 2, Gainesville, FL. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his loving Mother Stacey Mayes, siblings: Frederick James; Jaleesa Woods (& Eric); Genisha James, all of Gainesville, FL; Dedrick James (Los Angelas, CA); Stacey James (Atlanta, GA) & Omari Ja’ Zion James (Atlanta Ga).
Father Frederick James, Sr (Dorothy); siblings: Antonio; Montavious; Amber & Kayla James all of Gainesville, FL.
Grandparents: Geneva Thornton (Vernon) Hawthorne, FL; Leo Mayes (Annie Rolle-Mayes), Gainesville, FL & Willie James (Marie), Citra, FL
Aunts & Uncle - Tiffany Mayes, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Kelly Williams (& Dontrell), Alachua, FL; uncle, Kenyata Mayes, Hawthorne. FL.
Godparents – Archie Douglas (Ramona), Hawthorne, FL and a host of nieces, nephews
Johnta also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends who will forever cherish his memories.
