Obituary for Julie Yvonne Garrison
Julie Yvonne (Judy) Garrison, 59, of Alachua, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 with her children by her side. She was born on July 4, 1961 to Betty Jean Garrison of Alachua, FL and the late Nathaniel Latson of Newberry, FL. Judy, as most knew her, was known for just being a good person and a hard worker. She was a graduate of Santa Fe High School, Class of 1980. She enjoyed cooking, spent 30+ years working at Sonny's of Alachua, and made the best baked macaroni & cheese. If you know, you know! After retiring in 2016, she spent her days getting the much-needed break she deserved until she developed a rare cancer in 2019. She would spend two years fighting until the Lord saw fit to end her pain and suffering.
She is preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Soren Edward and Emelia Louise Foster; her father; stepmother, Lola Mae Latson; sister, Rosa Howell; and brother James Carl (Ben) Richardson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Melissa Louise McMains (Brendan); a son, Joshua Aaron McMains; two granddaughters, Evah Louise and Amaya Foster; her children's father, Worth McMains; Mother, Betty Jean Garrison, all of Alachua.; God-sons, Tyrell Kelly and Keimarion Neal; Maternal Sisters: Diana Barnes, Cocoa, FL, Betty Fairley, and Pam Fairley, Gainesville, FL; Maternal Brothers, Donald Garrison, Willie Fairley, and James Fairley, Alachua, FL, and Michael Johnson (Diana) High Point, NC; Paternal Sisters, Darlene Burket, Linda Latson, Diane Latson Harden, Elizabeth Latson; Paternal Brothers, Nathaniel Latson Jr. and Willie Spann, all of Gainesville, FL; Nieces, Kimberly James, Shereka Curtis, Adrianna Braswell, Shinda Curtis, Barquita Curtis, Shawanda Williams, Candace Bass, Nikki Latson, Francesca Munnerlyn; Nephews, Terry Williams, Donnell Garrison, Christopher Williams, Jermaine Joyner, Jarvis Fairley, Marderial Fairley, Antonio Williams, James Fairley, Al Howell, and twins, Justin and Joseph Latson; Special Aunts, Lula Mae Garrison, Channie Mae Johnson, Rudine Garrison, Flora Bell Quarterman, and Donna Thomas; Uncles, Andrew, Otis, Bobby Lee, Leonard, and Willie Garrison; Close Niece, April Kelly and Close Nephew, Maurice Kelly; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly.
"Life is too short for sorrow.
