Laura Rutledge was born one of twelve children on September 16, 1931 in Jasper, Florida to the late Mattie (Jasper) and Wille (Scoopy) Rutledge. Preceding her in death were five brothers: Andrew (AJ) Rutledge, Roosevelt (Jango) Rutledge, Clyde (Tippy) Rutledge, Odell (Boobie) Rutledge, and Jerry Rutledge; and four sisters: Dorothy Rutledge, Betty Rutledge Williams, Frances Davis and Mildred Rutledge Lawson.
Her family later move to Apopka, Florida, and there she attended a local school.
Her family later moved to Hawthorne and Laura met Willie Bryant.
Laura and Willie Bryant married and had one son, Herbert Lee Bryant. She later separated and moved to Pompano Beach, Florida where she spent most of her life. She became a restaurant owner serving the best food in that area. She was a great cook and always prepared large Sunday dinners for the whole family.
Laura also loved to go fishing especially with her sisters, and she enjoyed working in her yard.
Laura spent the last year of her life in Waldo, Florida because of illness. She lived with her caregiver and niece, Barbara Rainer-Lee, until the Lord called her home early in the morning on September 17, 2020.
Laura leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: two sons, Herbert Lee Bryant and Curvey Rutledge, two brothers: Willie Rutledge, Sr. and Bobby Rutledge, two sister-n-law: Gussie Mae Rutledge and Mercerlene Rutledge, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grands, 5 great-great grand and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
