Lindsey L. Watson, Sr. was born February 19, 1950, to the late James C.
Watson, Sr. and Daisy Brooks-Watson, in Gainesville, Florida. He was the
second of six children. Lindsey was preceded in death by his brother,
Thaddeus T. Watson.
Lindsey attended Lincoln High School in Gainesville, FL, graduating in the
Class of 1968. Lindsey grew up attending Bartley Temple Methodist Church
and later went to Springhill Missionary Baptist Church with his wife, Iris
Watson. Lindsey was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of
knowing him. His journey on this earth was characterized by love,
compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the
hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Lindsey lived a life that profoundly impacted those who knew him well.
Lindsey was an avid Gator fan who loved all sports. He enjoyed spending time
at the beach, traveling, fishing, listening to music, and creating memories with
family and friends. Lindsey never met a stranger; he was always smiling and
laughing.
Lindsey dedicated 47 years of his life as an Orthopedic Cast Technician and
educator at UF of Shands Hospital, where he always prioritized treating his
colleagues and patients with genuine respect and compassion. His
commitment to providing care and support made a lasting impact on everyone
he interacted with.
Lindsey peacefully transitioned from labor to rest on November 17, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Iris
Watson of Gainesville, FL; three daughters and two sons, Shuron Miller
(Kodes) of Land O’ Lakes, FL; Terrence L. Williams (Catina) of Gainesville;
Shaullanda Lacombe (Jonathan) of Davenport, FL; Lindsey L. Watson, Jr.
(Amanda) of Winter Garden, FL; Kutura Andrews (Brian) of Clermont, FL.
Nine Grandchildren, Terrence L. Williams Jr. of NY, NY, Ariana Williams of
Loghanville, Ga., Jaylen Petit of Atlanta, Ga., Kodes Young of Land O’ Lakes,
FL., Alena Lacombe of Davenport, FL., Xavier Lacombe of Davenport, FL.,
Raelin Watson of Winter Garden, FL., Ryleigh Watson of Winter Garden,
FL., Jayda Andrews of Clermont, FL.. One great grandchild Loghan Williams
of Loghanville. (Five Siblings) Rev. James C. Watson Jr. (Viola) of Boynton
Beach, FL; Rosa Cooper (Israel) of Orlando, FL; Ruben Watson (Shirley) of
Apopka, FL; Mark Watson (Charlotte) of Gainesville, FL; (Uncle) Johnny
Brooks (Alfreda); Mother-in-Law Julia Mae Crapps of Hawthorne, FL., and a
host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
