Mother Lucille Thomas, 86, was born July 16, 1933, Hawthorne, Fla. She passed peacefully on Feb. 5, 2020, in Palatka, Fla. Mother Thomas was a dedicated member of Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church, Hawthorne, Fla., and a retired custodian with Putnam County School Board.
She's survived by her children, Alvin "Gwendolyn" Hamilton, Gainesville, Fla., Allen Thomas, Lake Butler, Fla., Beverly Joseph (James), Johnson, Fla., Kirk Thomas, Gainesville, Fla., Tammie Graham (Lloyd), Ft. Myers, Fla., Darrel Thomas (Linda), Gainesville, Fla., and Gail Thomas, Hawthorne, Fla.; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Edith Hawkins, Mary Lois Mack, both of Hawthorne, Fla., and Charlie Floyd Manns (Ruby), Citra, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends. Mother Thomas lived a life of love and peace.
Public viewing is 4–7 p.m. Friday at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home, 21400 SE Hawthorne Road, Hawthorne, Fla. Viewing Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at the church, 10:30–11 a.m. Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church 146 S. County Road 21, Hawthorne, Fla., with Dr. Clarence Woods, pastor and officiant. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery.
