Maeola Verdell Henderson-Thompkins, 84
Mrs. Maeola Henderson-Thompkins of Cleveland, OH passed away June 9, 2018. Born to he late Oscar and Idella Grattic-Henderson in Hawthorne, FL, she graduated from Shell High School, Hawthorne, FL. Later attended Florida Normal College, St. Augustine, FL and earned a B A Degree in Education and received her Master's Degree from St. John's College in Cleveland, OH. She's a retired teacher and was honored Teacher of The Year in 1984 in the Cleveland School District.
Preceded in death by her husband, Perry Lee Thompkins; brothers, Lonnie and Nathaniel Henderson, James Jenkins, Oiliac, Warren G., Sr. and the Rev. Carnell C. Henderson, Sr.; sisters, Elmer B. Morris and Margery Jenkins.
Survived by 2 children, Charles Thompkins and Jennifer Valentine (Anthony, Sr.); granddaughters, Kallie and Jenae; grandson, Anthony Jr.; great granddaughter, Kayla; 3 sisters, Marzella McDonald, Emma Clayton of jacksonville, FL and Lillie Mae Williams (Rev. Joseph) of Hawthorne, FL; sister-in-law, Jettie P. Henderson of Hawthorne, FL; and other supportive family members Flora Mae Clayton (Ernest Sr.), Jimmie L. Hutchinson (Chris) and Nadine Brown (Alfred) ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Hawthorne, FL, Rev. Carl Gadson, Pastor. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery, Hawthorne, FL.
