Obituary for Marie Nelson
Deaconess Marie Nelson was born February 11, 1942 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late Jack and Edreaner Nelson. She was educated at Mt. Olive High Hchool in Sandersville, MS and in Alachua county.
In the late sixties , Marie Nelson, affectionately known as Ms. Ree, worked at the Crate Mill here in Gainesville, FL, which is the home of Depot Park.
Ms. Ree never married, but in addition to her three birth children, she had hundreds of children over the 35 plus years that she was a Teacher’s Aide and a Nursery School Teacher.
Ms. Ree accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist church in Sandersville, Ms. In 1961 she relocated to Gainesville, where she became a member of Mt. Herman Miss. Baptist church. In 1975 she joined the Camps Crusade, which became Landmark Holy Temple of God in 1989 under the leadership of Apostle Walter Camps Sr. She became instrumental in the growth and fundraising of the church. She was Choir director, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Mother, and Sunday School Superintendent. She also serve with her son, Elder James Nelson, at Bread of Life Restoration Center Holy Temple of God in St.Augustine, FL. She served faithfully until her health failed.
Ms. Ree loved the Lord with her whole heart. She loved to study the word of God and you could always find her in a Christian bookstore, whether here at home and during her travels.
Ms. Ree had A special love for her three sons, grandchildren, and extended family. She look forward to being with them at family gatherings, trips to Atlanta with her nieces, to Chicago with her cousins, and her hometown of Laurel, MS with her siblings. She also loved to shop with her brother, Ben.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Prentiss Nelson, Jerry Nelson, John Wesley(JW) Nelson, and her sister, May Catherine Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory, our three sons, James Nelson (Wanda), Dwayne Grant (Connie), and Timothy Davis all of Gainesville, Fl; one sister, Mary Mallory of Gainesville, FL; one brother, Mark Nelson (Carolyn) of Valdosta, Ga; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family, and the Plaza Health and Rehab Family.
