Obituary for Michael Reed Jr.
Michael Reed Jr. was born to Mary E. Campbell and Michael Reed Sr. on April 24, 2001. M.J, as he was affectionately called, fell in love, and found passion in the sport of basketball. Just as a young high freshman, he wooed the hearts of the crowd by racking up points, on the board, and his famous dunking moves against the opposing teams. His father had the same high school MO. Both on and off the court, MJ was known as a team player with a loyal heart. He was smart, kind, and gifted. He always assured that everyone that surrounded him was okay.
MJ was enrolled in both Putnam County and Alachua County Schools. He graduated from Hawthorne Jr./Sr. High School in Hawthorne, FL. After graduating, in the class of 2019, he went of to work for the following companies: Edgar Mineral Sand Mine; Dollar General, Lake Butler Prison System, and Florida Septic Inc.
MJ was an industrious worker, who was committed to making sure that taking care of his girlfriend, his son, and himself was his first priority. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family and playing basketball. Above all what he enjoyed most, is spending quality time with Ti’ana and their son Zymir. The smiles that MJ and Zy would exchange, will not be forgotten.
MJ participated in many youth programs and youth activities at Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church and Zion Hill SDA Church. It is refreshing to know that in such a short time MJ has enormous positive impact on the lives of so many.
M.J was preceded in death by his Grandpa’s Grady Clifford Reed and Walter Eugene Campbell Jr; his Grandmother Betty Joyce Campbell; his uncle Marvin Williams; and his cousin Kurtrina January.
M.J departed this life, on May 1, 2022. He leaves to mourn: his mother Mary E.
