Deaconess, Mother Carrie Davis O’Neal was born in Grandin, FL on July 26, 1931, to the late Aaron L. Davis,
Sr, and the late Alfreda Davis Adams; and her stepmother who reared her, Nellie Lee Davis. At an early age, Mother O’Neal converted and accepted Jesus Christ in her life and into her heart. Mother O’Neal joined the Church of God, Putnam Hall, Florida under the leadership of the late Rev. Elder Charles Fletcher,Sr. where she served faithfully in her calling as church mother, servant, and preacher of God’s word for over30 years. She later joined and worshiped with Light House EPC, Gainesville, FL under Elder Harvey. She began her journey to join and serve Abilene Missionary Baptist Church, Putnam Hall, where she faithfully served, worshipped and praised the Lord whenever she stepped in the church doors. At Abilene she
served as president of the sick committee for many years, going from house to house throughout the community delivering love offerings and taking a moment to pray for everyone she stopped in to see, praying for others and talking about Jesus is what brought great joy to her soul. She would often time stop at the corner to pray with the guys in the community offering them prayer and sharing with them the love of Jesus Under the leadership of Rev. James Pullings, she was ordained as Deaconess. Mother O’Neal believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and shared her belief with anyone she met. She loved people from all walks of life and would find time to share a word with them as the spirit guided. Mother O’Neal continued to serve at Abilene until her health began to fail. She left a footprint for her family and community and that was to serve with the love of Christ, and that Christ should always abide in our hearts, not just in our mouth. As she would often say, “Let it be real, whatever you do for God, let it be real!
