Obituary for Mother Geraldine Oates
Geraldine Oates was born in Flemington Florida on August 20, 1930 to the late Edgar and Aldonia Oates. She is preceded in death by her son Clayton Wendell Oates Sr. and 2 grandchildren Regina and Clayton Oates Jr. She accepted Christ and have been a faithful member of Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for over 80 years. She held numerous positions and she was currently the Mother of the church. Upon moving to Hawthorne with her sister she attended Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church as a Honorary Member. Mother Oates retired from the University of Florida after numerous years of service as an Environmental Specialist. She leaves to cherish her memories 2 sons Joseph Oates, Gainesville, Florida and Jerald (Daphane) Oates, Ocala, Florida. 2 sisters Evelyn Oates-James, Hawthorne , Florida and Ernestine Oates-Boone, Ocala, Florida. 3 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
