Obituary for Mother Naomi Davis Nelson
Mother Naomi Davis Nelson was born September 15,1939 in Palatka, FL to the late Rev. Elliott Davis and Mother Mary Etta Davis. She retired from the State of Florida Division of Forestry after 30 years of dedicated service as a Park Ranger. On February 8, 1963, Naomi and Clifford Nelson, Jr. were united in Holy Matrimony in Putnam Hall, FL. They were married for 59 years. Together they had six children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mother/Deaconess Naomi Nelson loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She previously attended Church of God, Abilene Missionary Baptist Church in Putnam Hall. Mother Nelson was a devoted and faithful member of Lighthouse Evangelistic Pentecostal Church since 1979. She dutifully served her church as a Deaconess, on the Mother's Board, Women's Auxiliary and Usher Board. Her favorite songs were "Oh Zion" and "He Brought Me Out". Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 91. Mother Nelson departed this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 14,2022 surrounded by her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She's preceded in death by siblings, Rev. Willie Davis, Sr. and Rev. Paul Davis, Sr.
Mother Nelson memories will forever live on in the life of her devoted and loving husband, Deacon Clifford I. Nelson, Jr. and her loving children, sons, Calvester Davis, Sr. (Bertha) and Jacques L. Nelson, Sr.; stepson: the late Andre Nelson (Crystal); daughters, Antionette M. Allen (Johnathon), Cotina L, Raphael (Gregory) and Lytasha C.Nelson; 13 precious grandchildren, Canesha, Tynell. Chelsy, Ashley, Semone, Chereyce, Gregory Jr, Deonna, Tyrell, Tiffany, Maiya, Calvester Jr, and Trevor; five great grandchildren; Alyria, Christopher, Tyler, Angelia, and Jaleasa; six brothers, Eugene Davis Sr. (Evelyn), Alfred Davis Sr. (the late Claretha), Edward Davis Sr. (Shirley), Larry Davis, the late Paul Davis Sr. (Linda), and the late Willie Davis Sr. (Janet); three sisters, Jannie Armstrong (the late Venerable, Sr.), Jerline Brown (Harry), and Linda Lancaster (Austin); two sisters-in-law, Hattie Bryant and Maggielene Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration Of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20,2022 at Living Hope Family Worship Center, 1109 SR 100, Florahome, FL Dave and Tammy Spedden, Host Pastors, Bishop Kwaku A. Tenah, Officiating. Burial will be in Abilene Cemetery, Putnam Hall, FL. Viewing on Friday at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home of Hawthorne 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home of Hawthorne.
