Obituary for Novella H Strawder

Novella Howell Strawder was born March 20, 1933 in Gordon (Brooker), FL. Novella was born as the eldest child to Ira and Mae Eva Howell. Novella met Cleo Strawder at the age 18yrs old and married a year later. Cleo and Novella moved to the Sugarhill of Gainesville after their first child Robert was born. After building their first home the Strawder family moved to NE 19th Terrance. Novella and Cleo ultimately had 5 children. Novella finished her highschool education at ACT and further her education at Santa Fe College to become a licensed practical nurse. She started her nurse career at Shands Hospital where she worked for 30+years. Her greatest achievement was caring for and nourishing the people of the community that she often took in as a member of her own family. She was a devout Christian and a member of Open Door Ministries where she lived next door. She was known to be a sharp minded, independent women that loved watching Jeopardy every day. She valued family most of all and made sure her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren loved God first above all. Mrs. Strawder, age 89, mother and grandmother passed away Thursday December 29, 2022- at her home surrounding by her living family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years Cleo Strawder, parents Ira and Mae Howell, brother James Howell. She will remain in the hearts and minds of her family: children- Robert Strawder (Mary), Valerie Littles (Willie Jr), William Strawder (Mary), Ira Strawder (Meshall), and Pamela Garcia (Thomas); siblings: Barbara Jefferson (Herman), Wille Mae Griffen of Fort Meyers, Rosa Lee Bryant (Willie D) of Rochelle, FL.
