Gainesville – Paul M. Adams passed away peacefully at his home on October 20, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was born on September 4, 1959, to Mr. and Mrs. Adams in Topeka, Kansas where he attended grade school, Topeka High School Class of 1978, and colleges at Butler College, Southwestern College as a Double Major, and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Phillips University. He was a Track and Field Star.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Petrina, son, Aaron, and stepdaughter, Teah. He is survived by grandchildren. He leaves behind a brother Ted and devoted mother-in-law Floretha Bryant, brother-in-law V’achon Bryant, and devoted friend, Reggie Jones. He was a devoted father and loving husband who loved and enjoyed taking road trips to different states visiting historical sites and museums. He was an avid book lover, historian, leader, owner of hundreds of books, a book club leader, and a member of Ring Shout Book Club. He was an honorably discharged sergeant in the United States Air Force. As an Educator and disseminator of knowledge for over 30 years in Topeka, Kansas School System, Kansas Department of Education, as well as the Alachua Co. Public Schools, Gainesville, FL. He was loved by his students. His presence will be tremendously missed by “The Brothers” Vince Omni, Sam Jenkins, Mike Barber, Chris Moore, Buzz, Primo, and Dorian Castenada. His generous and giving spirit will never be forgotten by family, friends, and Pilgrim Rest Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Aileen English and Lonnel Adams, and a sister, Elsa Booker. He was a member of St. John AME in Topeka Kansas and served as an Usher and Sunday School Teacher.
There will be a memorial burial at Jacksonville National Cemetary, Jacksonville, FL. 4083 Lannie Rd. on Monday, November 6, 2023, with Military Honors at 10:30 a.m. Services are under the professional Care of Pinkney-Smith Funeral Homes, Inc. Flowers, Cards, Acts of Kindness, and Condolences may be sent to Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home, Inc. 727 N.W. 2nd St. Gainesville, FL 32601 on Friday, November 3, 2023, between the hours of 2 PM - 5 PM.
