Obituary for Rev. Carnell Clarence Henderson, Sr.
REVEREND CARNELL CLARENCE HENDERSON, SR Reverend Carnell Clarence Henderson, Sr, age 88, long time Pastor and Community Leader passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015. He was born December 2, 1926 in Putnam County, FL to the late Oscar and Idella Henderson. Reverend Henderson retired from Sunland Training Center after working for more than 20 years as a barber. He also served on the City Council for the City of Hawthorne for 18 years. He loved working with young people, singing, fishing and helping others. Reverend Henderson was preceded in death by his sons, Carnell Clarence Henderson, Jr. and Roger Alvin Henderson, Sr; brothers, Oliac Henderson, Warren G. Henderson, Sr, Nathaniel Henderson, Lonnie Henderson and James Jenkins; and sisters, Elmer Morris and Margery Jenkins. Reverend Henderson leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 68 years, Jettie Pauline McCone Henderson; three sons, Ralph (Joan) Henderson, Sr., Brockton, MA, Pastor Stephen (Doris) Henderson, San Diego, CA, and Oscar Henderson, Hawthorne, FL; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 5 great/great grandchildren; four sisters, Lillie Mae (Rev Joseph) Williams Hawthorne, FL; Maeola Thompkins, Cleveland, OH; Emma Bell (Willie) Clayton and Marzella McDonald, Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Juanita Henderson, Gainesville, FL; Margery Dixon and Carolyn McCone and brother-in-law Henry McCone all of Taunton, MA.; and a host of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at Hawthorne High School, Hawthorne, FL. Pastor Carl Gadson, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church presiding - Pastor Marvin McMahon, Mt. Pedro Missionary Baptist Church is eulogist. Burial will follow in the Hawthorne Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Hawthorne, FL, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday 30 minutes before service. No viewing after the eulogy. The cortege will form at the home of Reverend Carnell and Jettie Henderson at 1:30 p.m., Saturday. ��
