Zona R. Blackshear-Mingo

Zona was born May 12th, 1956, in Gainesville, Florida. She was the daughter of Leola Smith and the late Charles Blackshear Sr. She was a graduate of Buchholz High School, class of 1974. After graduation she attended Miami-Dade Community College of Business. She pursued a career as a model before eventually settling in her long term career with the Coast Guard as a Licensee Examiner Supervisor. She held this position for 30 years before retiring in 2013 to care for her beautiful Mother.

She met her soul mate Milton Mingo, in 1974. The two dated for a year before getting married on January 8th, 1976. After marriage, Zona relocated to Miami, Fl with Milton in which they have maintained their union for over 45 years. To that union they were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters.

On the morning of May 25, 2021 at 5:55 am, the Lord our Savior, called his angel home. She leaves to cherish her memories; her devoted husband, Milton; Children: Crystal Mingo of Miami, Fl; Karen Mingo of Orlando, Fl; Mother Leola Hart of Gainesville, Fl; Stepmom: Bunia Mae Blackshear of Miami, Fl; Siblings: Eddie Smith; Lona Blount (Eddie); Gary Hart (Mary); Leonza Blackshear ( Patricia); Verline Stinson; Pauline Scott (Terry); James Blackshear; Diana Blackshear; Glenda Blackshear; Annie Blackshear Moffett (Anthony); Charlene Blackshear; Donald Blackshear ( Elizabeth); Mother-in-Law: Mable Mingo; Aunt: Mary Johnson (Lee); Sister-in-law: Beatrice Hassanali (Fareede); Brother-in-law: Larry Mingo (Vanessa); Grandchildren: Ciera Mingo; Shane Hooks; Makiah Rogers; Daijah Jones; Great-grandchild: Brooklyn Baptiste; A host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends: Connie, Yvonne, and Wanda Gail. She was preceded in death by her late brother Charles Blackshear Jr.; and sister Annie Livingston.
