Obituary for Geraldine Wanton Lewis-Vasquez
Geraldine Wanton Lewis-Vasquez, a lifelong resident of Keystone Heights “Speedville Community” was born on May 21, 1949 to the late Harold and Retha Mae Wanton in Palatka, Florida. She was a graduate of the Class of 1967 from R.J.E. High School. Geraldine also received her A.A. degree from Santa Fe Community College.

Geraldine was formerly employed by Sunnyland, Sidney Lanier, Head Start in Starke and Lake Butler, Florida and Shands of Starke from which she retired.

On Friday, March 12, 2021 at 12:43 p.m. God the Creator of all things walked by North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida and picked his Orchid, named Geraldine. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Retha Mae Wanton; her siblings Harold Wanton Jr., Shirley Walker, James Wanton and Mae Retha “Pat” Fisher; one great grandchild Aurou George and one goddaughter Ty’veshaia Byrd.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memories:
Her loving and devoted husband of 22 years Pedro Vasquez, a loving and devoted daughter Yolanda Wanton, three special daughters: Yolanda Clark, Dee Dee Jones and Suri Jackson; three grandchildren: Jhoneka (David), Dale (Amanda) and Trayven; three great grandchildren: Collin, Lily and Emery; one adopted sister: Della Covington; one loving and devoted sister-in-law: Adell “Lavern” Wanton; one brother-in-law: Freddie Fisher; one great aunt: Zelma Watson; three uncles: Henry Wanton, Jose Mack and Horace Mack; a special niece: Angela Fisher; nine godchildren: Faye and George Pinkney Jr., Prisca Coon, Carla Blount, Tajhi Williams, Oviance Johnson, Jamasion Patterson, Keyon Davis and Jasmine Willis; six close friends: Ethel Pryer, Mary Gordon, Frances Perry-Fields, Mable Coon, Shirley Crum, Medley McDonald; her Jehovah Witness Family; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 26, 2021, 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Home, 21400 SE Hawthorne Road, Hawthorne, FL. Celebration Of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Speedville Community Cemetery, 875 SE 35 Street, Melrose, FL with burial to follow.
