Brother Aaron (Nip) Jerome Ray answered the call of God at Shands Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Aaron was born on June 11, 1944, to the late Rufus Louis Ray and the late Gussie May Washington in Savannah, GA. His adoptive parents, the late Frank Ray, Sr. and the late Mattie Lee Ray, later reared him in Johnson Crossroads.
Aaron was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated high school in 1964 from Central Academy High School in Palatka, FL. Aaron accepted Christ at an early age at the Mount Bethel Baptist
Church. Prior to his retirement, Aaron spent many years serving the residents at the Tacachale Center in Gainesville, FL. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Aaron loved to fish and was an avid fisherman. Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, Pinkney-Smith Funeral in Hawthorne from 5-7p.m. Service will take place at Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday at 11a.m. Preceding him in death are both sets of parents, Rufus Louis Ray and Gussie May Washington; and Frank Ray Sr. and Mattie Ray.; three siblings, Mildred Mason, Ruth Walker, Frank Ray, Jr. and Bessie Lee Chisholm.
